Welcome to our Eco Schools page!
We now have a new Eco-Council! Class elections took place in Term 1 in P4, P5, P6 and P7 and the new Eco Councillors are: Oscar Spence P4, Jessica Pulman P4, Aimee Mc Kinnon P5, Eva Wimberley P5, Niamh Mc Goldrick P6, Zara Mc Guile P6, Ellie Mc Bride P7 and Charlie Brown P7. Well done everyone! Mrs Adams and Daniel are also part of the Eco Council and we are all looking forward to planning and contributing to our Eco School projects.
We just love getting out into our Newland and seeing how it changes throughout the different seasons and what different wildlife it has attracted. We keep a close eye on our pond and take note of the different pond life in it throughout the year. We were so excited to recently find frog spawn, frogs and newts!!
Our Eco Council (plus some very keen volunteers!) were thrilled to get the opportunity to plant some pollen rich plant with Rachel Bain who is the Bio Diversity Officer for the Causeway Coast and Glens. The project is part of the Bee-licious initiative where pollinators are being planted in areas to encourage and help the bees and other insects who can benefit from these pollen rich plants. We planted them in an area in our beautiful Newland and are really looking forward to watching their growth progress and recording the bees and minibeasts that they attract.
