Numeracy
Mental Maths
We will be working hard this year on our mental maths skills and learning about different strategies to use to help us improve these skills. Our focus this year will be on Problem Solving - Logic and Reasoning.

Literacy
Writing
We will be developing our creative writing skills through lots of story writing this year. We will work on improving our sentences by adding more detail and descriptive language.
We will cover a range of different written work from stories, poetry, letters, recount and instructional writing.
Grammar
We will be working on lots of grammar activities to help us improve our writing skills. We will be focusing on capital letters and punctuation, homophones, paragraphs, plurals and good use of adjectives.
World Around Us
Our topic this term is 'Hunger'
We will be researching about hunger throughout the world and why it happens. We will be learning about charities that help these countries and what they do.
We will also be looking at hunger closer to home. Are people suffering in our country and what local charities are helping them?
Our case study will be about the Great Famine in Ireland 1845 and we might have a special visitor joining us, who will give us an opportunity to experience what life as a child in this era was really like!
