P7 Autumn Term
Here is a quick insight to what P7 will be covering in the Autumn Term, in Literacy, Numeracy and WAU.
Literacy
P7 will be covering the following objectives in their writing :
* Biography - Passengers of the Titanic.
* Instructions - Evacuation procedures.
* Recount- Diary entries of Titanic passengers.
* Poetry - Back to school and Christmas poems.
* Explanation - Why did the Titanic sink?
* Narrative - Spooky stories for Halloween and Christmas adventure stories, written to read to our new P1s.
P7 will be covering the following objectives in their grammar:
* Revision of the following: nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, connectives and prepositions.
We will also be continuing to work hard with our reading, handwriting and spellings.
Numeracy
P7 will be covering the following objectives in their Numeracy:
NUMBER
Place Value – Read and write numbers to 1,000,000.
Read, write and order tenths and hundredths.
Read, write and order decimals to 3 dp.
Addition and subtraction – Develop vertical + and – through formal recording.
Understand + is the inverse of -.
Extend + and – to beyond 1000.
Add and subtract tenths/hundredths.
Multiplication – Have quick recall of tables up to 10 x 10
X and ÷ by 10 and 100.
Extend multiplication to a 2 digit/3 digit number by a 2 digit number.
Division – Develop quick recall within 100.
Extend division to any 2/3 digit number by a single digit.
Investigate dividing a number by 10 or 100.
Divide a number by a single digit to answers with up to 2 dp.

MEASURE Length- convert metric units to another. (m-cm²/mm-cm) Introduce the km. Introduce, measure and record in mm. Record measurements of length using decimal notation. |
SHAPE & SPACE
Discuss, draw and label bar line graphs paying particular attention to the numbering and scaling of the axes.
Discuss, draw and label bar charts on given axes which require simple scales.
We will also be continuing to work hard on our multiplication and division facts and our Mathletics activities.
WAU -Titanic
P7 will be covering the following objectives in their WAU:
* Who built the Titanic, where and why?
* Who sailed on the Titanic and were there survivors?
* To know about the sinking of Titanic, why it sank and how the sinking could have been avoided.
* To know how the sinking of Titanic was reported.
* Learn what icebergs are and how they are formed.
* To know the planned stages of the journey of Titanic.
* Be able to design and carry out experiments on floating and sinking.
We will also be carrying out a variety of speaking and listening and art and design activities, based around our topic.
