Welcome to P7!
P7 Spring Term
Here is a quick insight to what P7 will be covering in the Autumn Term, in Literacy, Numeracy and WAU.
Literacy
P7 will be covering the following objectives in their writing :
* Biography - Passengers of the Titanic.
* Instructions - Evacuation procedures.
* Recount- Diary entries of Titanic passengers.
* Poetry - Easter theme - shape/acrostic poems.
* Explanation - Why did the Titanic sink?
P7 will be covering the following objectives in their grammar:
* Connectives (including time connectives).
* Past/present tense.
* Imperative verbs.
* Reported speech/Direct speech.
* 1st/3rd person.
* Comparative language.
We will also be continuing to work hard with our reading, handwriting and spellings.
Numeracy
P7 will be covering the following objectives in their Numeracy:
* Perimeter – Find the perimeter of simple and compound shapes.
* Area – Find the area of simple and irregular shapes.
* Fractions & Decimals - Explore and order fractions.
Add and subtract fractions with the same/different denominator.
Read and write decimals up to 3dp.
* Probability – Discuss and suggest events and their possible outcomes. Extend vocabulary of probability.
* 2D/3D shape - Explore relationship between 2D and 3D shapes.
Discuss and visualise 3D shapes from drawn nets.
* Angles - Appreciate the need for a standard unit to measure angles.
Be able to recognise acute, obtuse and reflex angles.
Measure and draw angles up to 360 degrees.
We will also be continuing to work hard on our multiplication and division facts and our Mathletics activities.
WAU -Titanic
P7 will be covering the following objectives in their WAU:
* Who built the Titanic, where and why?
* Who sailed on the Titanic and were there survivors?
* To know about the sinking of Titanic, why it sank and how the sinking could have been avoided.
* To know how the sinking of Titanic was reported.
* Learn what icebergs are and how they are formed.
* To know the planned stages of the journey of Titanic.
* Be able to design and carry out experiments on floating and sinking.
We will also be carrying out a variety of speaking and listening and art and design activities, based around our topic.
