Spring Term Literacy
This term we will continue to revise many aspects of grammar e.g. pronouns, commas and apostrophes. We will have lots of opportunities to develop our writing. We will be learning about Haiku poems and will get to create some of our own Haiku poems. We will be revising the features of Non-Chronological Reports and will write our own reports on the homes of Ancient Egyptians. Amidst all of this, we will be creating some comic strips and writing some newspaper reports.
Spring Term Numeracy
This term we are going to be really busy learning lots of new concepts and revising concepts we have already been taught.
We will be developing our knowledge of fractions and link this with division. We will also be looking at Bar Graphs and Line Graphs. We will develop our understanding of these and our ability to read and interpret more complex graphs and will get to draw some of our own graphs.
We will be extending our learning on Time (digital and analogue), telling time in minutes past the hour and minutes to the next hour. We will also be reading and interpreting calendars.
We will be looking at symmetry and creating symmetrical pictures online.
In P5 we also develop our knowledge of money and our ability to calculate change.
Spring Term WAU
This term our topic is "Egypt". We are very excited about this topic and can't wait to find out more about the process of mummification - it sounds really gory!!!!!!!
We will be finding out about the geography of Egypt - it's location in the world and some of it's unique features. We will learn about some of the animals which can survive the harsh climate also.
We will learn about the Ancient Pharaohs - their lives, homes, deaths and tombs. And of course, we will be learning about the most famous Egyptian of all - Tutankhamun.
