Common Community Infections

15 March 2018 (by ballycastle)

There are currently a number of Common Community Infections affecting pupils in our local community.

Slap Cheek (Parvovirus), Scarlet Fever, Chicken Pox as well as Head Lice are all affecting pupils in the local community at the moment. Parents should seek advice from their local Pharmacist or contact their GP. You may also find information on the NHS Direct Website useful. Parents should be checking for Head Lice every week - all members of the family, if at school or not - and only treat if living lice are found. Treatment does not work as a preventative measure & increases the resistance of the lice. The best way to check is by putting conditioner on the hair and combing through with a nit comb.
